Toy Story 5 Trailer Pits The Beloved Duo Versus a Digital Device
Exactly 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story movie was released, launching Pixar as a leading animation studio and bringing audiences to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping viewers curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he grew up — getting a brand new plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a fair and helping prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Last Installment
At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the badge pinned to her shirt.
It is hoped she is still the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
